About the Book

The Funeral Director is a psychological, supernatural horror novel with dark, mysterious, and suspenseful elements. Set in the quiet town of Bracken Hollow, the story follows Harold Greaves, a funeral director, whose connection to the dead slowly turns terrifying. As strange events grow more dangerous, the town begins to unravel under fear, secrets, and forces no one fully understands.

The book is designed to immerse readers in psychological fear while exploring deeper themes like obsession, isolation, control, grief, and the consequences of pushing beyond natural boundaries. This gripping horror story keeps readers emotionally engaged through suspense, mystery, and unsettling tension that builds chapter by chapter.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I, Kevin Joseph Lachausse, am a Southeast Texas writer focused on emotionally grounded storytelling. My debut literary work, ‘The Funeral Director,’ lies beneath ordinary life, leaning into psychological tension, emotional depth, and quiet darkness. As I spent several years serving in ministry, cemeteries, and funeral service, these life experiences helped me bring a strong sense of realism and emotional weight to my storytelling. This book is all about grief, fear, morality, loneliness, and the complicated choices people make when pushed to their limits. Readers will find slow-burn suspense and character-driven narratives because I focused much on atmosphere, human behavior, and psychological tension beneath the surface.

In this novel, I tried my best to introduce readers to the grounded psychological suspense in a way that becomes central to my voice as a writer and what I want to communicate. I did not rely on shock or spectacle, but concentrated on what lies beneath the surface of everyday life, including mood, tension, and emotional unraveling.

I also work closely with grief, loss, and families during some of their most sensitive and painful moments, giving readers the emotional realism found throughout his fiction.

So now, as you know, psychological thrillers remain a major focus, and since I have a long-term vision as a writer, I want to reach across multiple genres and styles. I want to produce masterpieces focusing on gripping atmosphere, emotional life conflicts, and stories that pull readers in from the very first page and carry them through to the last.
